Sagres Honey – 2000 years of history

Sagres Honey – 2000 years of history - Full

Did you know that Sagres has been producing honey for about 2000 years? Archaeological research has documented, in Martinhal Bay, the pre-existence of an ancient Roman villa dedicated to the pottery industry, but also to the production of honey. Come and learn about this long history of harmonious coexistence between Nature, Flora, Bees and Man and take the opportunity to taste the pureness of the Sagres honey. The presentation will feature municipal archaeologist Ricardo Soares, José Manuel Amélio, Sagres beekeeper, and Nicolau da Costa (Black Bee), a beekeeper (among many other things).
