Light pollution and biodiversity

Light pollution and biodiversity

Did you know that one of the main threats to nocturnal animals (such as sea birds, bats and insects) is light pollution?

The LIFE Natura@night project, coordinated by SPEA Madeira, aims to reduce light pollution that affects the protected areas of the Madeira, Azores and Canary archipelagos, and mitigate its impacts through mapping light pollution, regulating lighting and raising awareness to protect the nocturnal ecossytems.

Come meet the project LIFE Natura@night and understand how you can give a "little push" to the conversation of iconic species such as the great shearwater.
