"As Aves dos Pastores" - Presentation
We will explain, how this project came about and its primary objectives, as well as the first conclusions about the species selected for study. During the last months we have been busy searching for, recording and monitoring all the project's birds, many of which are the focus of considerable conservation concern. The breeding birds of the pasturelands of the Vila do Bispo county reflect an ancient way of life that still persists today. Our project recognises that the future of these birds is in the hands of the shepherds, farmers and other stakeholders, so their success is paramount for keeping local biodiversity sustainable.
