António Cotão

Born and raised in the mountains of northern Alentejo, he has a lifelong passion for nature and wildlife. He holds a degree in Biology and dedicates much of his time to nature conservation, both through volunteer initiatives such as Projeto GEA, which he co-founded, and through his professional work.

He spends much of his time outdoors, backpack on his shoulders and "armed" with equipment (as his friends and family like to say). Whether scanning the skies for birds during birdwatching trips or following a map in search of the right route on trekking adventures, he is most at home in nature.

He believes that one of the most effective ways to promote nature conservation is by helping people connect with the natural world. To that end, he develops and delivers outdoor experiences through guided tours and non-formal environmental education projects.

To inspire others to step outside their comfort zones and discover the natural beauty of the world, he shares his adventures on his blog (although he does not always manage to keep it up to date) and on his Instagram page.
