Projeto GEA
Projeto GEA is an environmental volunteer initiative founded in 2019 with the aim of tackling litter pollution and raising awareness about the importance of protecting the environment.
Through the regular organisation of clean-up events in beaches, urban areas, natural spaces and protected sites, the project encourages active public participation in nature conservation, demonstrating that small individual actions can collectively make a significant difference. In parallel, it promotes awareness of waste reduction, reuse, and biodiversity conservation, inspiring more sustainable lifestyles and a stronger connection with nature.
Since its creation, Projeto GEA has organised more than 130 clean-up events in Portugal and Greece, engaging around 250 volunteers and removing over 7 tonnes of litter, including more than 54,000 cigarette butts. Beyond removing waste from the environment, the project aims to inspire active environmental citizenship and empower people to become part of the solution.
